About us
With over 20 years of experience in the carbon market and developing forest carbon projects, Face the Future is an organisation which is combatting climate change through forestry projects. We are committed to creating sustainable forestry projects that also benefit local communities and biodiversity.
Face the Future specializes in carbon development (PDD development, carbon monitoring) and the marketing of carbon credits. Over the years our experience within the forest carbon market has resulted in over 50.000 hectares of newly established forests and over 100.000 hectares of existing forest under conservation in 4 continents.
Our team consists of foresters and ecologists with a track record in tropical forest projects as well as in house GIS expertise and other technical expertise. Each project we participate in needs to be able to show measurable benefits with regards to;
* Climate Change
* Community participation (income generation, knowledge transfer, improved livelihoods)
* Biodiversity
Our projects are partly funded through the marketing of carbon credits generated by the projects themselves. Next to the development of forest projects we also provide consultancy services with regards to carbon certification of forest projects and implementation as well as the funding of such projects.
Mission statement
Forests, and other ecosystems, play a crucial role in the daily life of every individual on earth. Without the services and resources provided by forests, it would simply be impossible to live on earth. Through the sequestration of carbon for instance, forests are of vital importance in regulating the global climate.
Face the Future’s mission is to mitigate climate change, by rehabilitating and conserving forests (and other ecosystems). This can be partly funded for by the price that is paid for the amount of carbon sequestered. When well designed and implemented a forest rehabilitation or conservation project results in clear benefits for local communities, the global society and biodiversity, so a true triple win situation. As Face the Future we believe that through this triple win approach a sustainable future lies ahead for us.
Forest certification
Face the Future appreciates sustainable forest management and is therefore committed to the principles and criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Face the Future is managing a FSC certified forest management group in the Netherlands (with certification number CU-FM/COC-805780) and the forest rehabilitation project in Kibale is FSC certified as part of the Kibale National Park (certification number SGS-FM/COC-000979).
